Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesA-
FutureB
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Ravens a B. The Ravens did not so much draft Malik Washington as overpay for him, 160 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
They banked enough surplus on Wiggins to cover a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick34
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at the 34th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick64
Rnd2
Nate Wiggins
They barely believed it either: Nate Wiggins still on the board at pick 64. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick95
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany slipping to slot 95 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick132
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mohamed Kamara. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick134
Rnd4
Ray Davis
No edge and no loss on Ray Davis in pick No. 134; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick169
Rnd5
Jason Marshall Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Jason Marshall Jr. at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick180
Rnd6
Ricky Pearsall
They talked themselves into Ricky Pearsall at the 180th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick253
Rnd7
Malik Washington
Value said wait; Malik Washington in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
