A costly weekend of dealing drags the Chargers to a D-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Chargers would have aced it. Jonah Monheim at pick 113 is 49 spots clear of where he belonged. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting Williams where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

In pick No. 22 they get an anchor for the defensive front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
