The Bears answered their biggest question with Williams. Grade: F.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Bears did exactly that with Trajan Jeffcoat in the Round 7 slot. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring. The Washington pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left cornerback open, and the grade is the bill.
