Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB-
The 49ers kept it disciplined and banked a B.

Nobody else had Shaun Dolac anywhere near the Round 7 slot. The 49ers did, by 87 spots, and that gap is the whole story. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Monangai falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in slot 43 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jared Wilson this early at the 75th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick76 Rnd3 Elic Ayomanor
Elic Ayomanor in pick 76 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick100 Rnd3 Oluwafemi Oladejo
A wild overpay on Oluwafemi Oladejo in the 100th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick113 Rnd4 Jackson Slater
Jackson Slater at No. 113 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138 Rnd4 Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles at the 138th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick147 Rnd5 Logan Brown
No drama and no debate, Logan Brown went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 9. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick149 Rnd5 O'Donnell Fortune
They took O'Donnell Fortune at par in pick No. 149, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick160 Rnd5 Jaylen Reed
A big swing on Jaylen Reed at slot 160, well ahead of any board in the building. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick204 Rnd6 Teddye Buchanan
This one needs a full-page explanation: Teddye Buchanan in the Round 6 slot, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick227 Rnd7 Kyle Monangai
Value with a capital V on Kyle Monangai in pick 227, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick249 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
Ty Hamilton at the 249th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick252 Rnd7 Shaun Dolac
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Shaun Dolac. It fills a real need, too.
