Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Packers let Flournoy fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched Ryan Flournoy slide 40 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

If Cole pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Spending an early pick on linebacker with quarterback, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper DeJean. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick41 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
They liked Payton Wilson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 41. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick58 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Edgerrin Cooper at linebacker with quarterback, tight end and other spots open.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jaylen Wright
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Jaylen Wright for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick91 Rnd3 Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
Nothing to complain about; Dadrion Taylor-Demerson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick126 Rnd4 Mason McCormick
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mason McCormick in the 126th overall pick, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick169 Rnd5 Myles Cole
Myles Cole in pick No. 169 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick202 Rnd6 Caedan Wallace
Caedan Wallace in slot 202 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick219 Rnd6 Tylan Grable
A reach for Tylan Grable in the 219th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick245 Rnd7 Ryan Flournoy
You do not let a wide receiver like Ryan Flournoy reach slot 245 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick255 Rnd7 Kimani Vidal
A straight-up fair deal on Kimani Vidal at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
