Ryan Polez DRAFTING FOR THEBills

Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesA
FutureD
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bills: B-. The one they had to fix is still broken. The Bills left interior defensive lineman untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Johnson. The Ford reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In the 9th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick128
Rnd4
Beau Brade
No edge and no loss on Beau Brade in pick No. 128; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick134
Rnd4
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at the 134th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144
Rnd5
Kalen King
Nothing to complain about; Kalen King went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick160
Rnd5
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick163
Rnd5
Braiden McGregor
Braiden McGregor at Round 5, Pick 27 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick189
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
A conviction pick on Jaylan Ford at slot 189 that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick200
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cornelius Johnson at No. 200. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick204
Rnd6
Johnny Dixon
They read the board right and Johnny Dixon was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 29. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick248
Rnd7
LaDarius Henderson
LaDarius Henderson in No. 248 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
