Draft Grade — Jaguars

FutureB-
The Jaguars won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B. Whoever sat across the table from the Jaguars should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Ford to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Landing Jones that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick48
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
A premium they did not need to pay, T'Vondre Sweat a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick56
Rnd2
Patrick Paul
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Patrick Paul at No. 56 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick64
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in the 64th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick79
Rnd3
Josh Newton
No edge and no loss on Josh Newton in pick 79; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick115
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
A reasonable price with a little left over, Leonard Taylor III in the 115th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick117
Rnd4
James Williams
James Williams at Round 4, Pick 17 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick152
Rnd5
Jaylan Ford
They reached into another round for Jaylan Ford, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick172
Rnd5
Javon Baker
The board had cheaper options than Javon Baker at slot 172, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick195
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
A conviction pick on Jared Wiley at the 195th pick that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
Pick211
Rnd6
Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan at Round 6, Pick 36 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick234
Rnd7
Sheridan Jones
Sheridan Jones in pick No. 234 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
