2024 DRAFTING FOR THEGiants
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Giants
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Grand theft in the 154th overall pick: the Giants steal Higgins and grade out a B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jay Higgins got past him. The Giants do not have to explain a thing at No. 154. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They are betting Ferguson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In slot 9 they get an every-down engine for the run game at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick40
Rnd2
Jahdae Barron
Jahdae Barron at the 40th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick71
Rnd3
Tez Johnson
No edge and no loss on Tez Johnson in the 71st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick107
Rnd4
Evan Stewart
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Evan Stewart graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick134
Rnd4
Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in pick No. 134 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jay Higgins
They barely believed it either: Jay Higgins still on the board at Round 5, Pick 16. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick219
Rnd7
Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm in pick 219 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick242
Rnd7
Terrance Ferguson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Terrance Ferguson this early at No. 242. The roster fit checks out.
