Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall D+
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Steelers lost the trade table, and the D+ tells the story.

The Jalen Milroe selection is the head-turner. The Steelers reached 36 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. The process wobbled, and the D+ is where it lands.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Williams at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Derrick Harmon
A straight-up fair deal on Derrick Harmon at Round 1, Pick 27, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick37 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
They did well to land Omarion Hampton in pick 37, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at the 59th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick123 Rnd4 Savion Williams
Savion Williams at slot 123 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick156 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
A real head-scratcher, JJ Pegues in the Round 5 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
By-the-book stuff, Jaylen Reed at pick No. 185 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick229 Rnd7 Alijah Huzzie
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Alijah Huzzie in the 229th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
