Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureB-
Grand theft in the 44th overall pick: the Commanders steal Sadiq and grade out a B+. The real work happened on the phones. The Commanders fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
The Sadiq pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Tyrel Dodson pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the 10th pick they get a green-dot type in the middle. Need was not the driver here.
Pick44
Rnd2
Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq at slot 44 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73
Rnd3
A.J. Harris
A.J. Harris at Round 3, Pick 9 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick147
Rnd5
Blake Miller
Blake Miller in pick 147 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick152
Rnd5
Eric Rivers
Nothing to complain about; Eric Rivers went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick186
Rnd6
CJ Daniels
Good price on CJ Daniels in No. 186, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick190
Rnd6
Jermaine Mathews Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jermaine Mathews Jr. in No. 190. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick224
Rnd7
Quinten Joyner
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 7 slot with a little surplus value in Quinten Joyner. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
