Grand theft in pick 185: the Eagles steal Johnson and grade out a B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Eagles watched Cornelius Johnson slide 29 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Every board in the league had Colson lower, and that gap is the story.

They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

In pick 31 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, though they paid up to get him. More want than need.
Pick94 Rnd3 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in Round 3, Pick 31 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
Pick127 Rnd4 Isaiah Adams
A reasonable price with a little left over, Isaiah Adams in the 127th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.

They did well to land Trevin Wallace in No. 152, just ahead of his grade. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.

Josh Newton at pick No. 155 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

They read the board right and Tip Reiman was the payoff at slot 172. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.

Taking Cornelius Johnson in the 185th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
