Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Browns answered their biggest question with Williams. Grade: B.

The Browns spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

The Anderson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. However the rest shakes out, Cowing at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get their quarterback of the future. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick11 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the 11th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
They took Tyler Nubin at par in pick No. 33, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick54 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson slid further than he should have, and slot 54 is lovely value for the linebacker. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick85 Rnd3 Blake Corum
A clean, defensible pick in pick 85 with a little surplus value in Blake Corum. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick156 Rnd5 Jacob Cowing
Circle this one: Jacob Cowing at the Round 5 slot is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick206 Rnd6 Johnny Dixon
Johnny Dixon at No. 206 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick227 Rnd7 Evan Anderson
A real head-scratcher, Evan Anderson in the 227th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick243 Rnd7 C.J. Hanson
C.J. Hanson at the 243rd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
