Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
A-
ValueB-

FutureA+
Daniels is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: A-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Every board in the league had Murphy lower, and that gap is the story.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
In the end it comes back to Jayden Daniels, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In pick No. 7 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick25
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In slot 25 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Kamari Lassiter
A straight-up fair deal on Kamari Lassiter at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
No edge and no loss on Cooper Beebe in the 41st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick47
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
A tidy bit of business in No. 47, where Jordan Morgan graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick58
Rnd2
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at pick 58 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick71
Rnd3
Austin Booker
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Austin Booker. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick75
Rnd3
Trey Benson
Trey Benson in Round 3, Pick 11 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
Nothing to complain about; Brenden Rice went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick106
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
A conviction pick on Tyler Davis at No. 106 that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick122
Rnd4
Javon Foster
Javon Foster at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146
Rnd5
Grayson Murphy
A wild overpay on Grayson Murphy in pick No. 146, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
