The Panthers finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D+.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Nazir Stackhouse, 41 picks early at slot 65.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They have staked the next five years on Quinn Ewers, which is the only story that really matters here.

The Stackhouse pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver, linebacker and other spots. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.

Payton at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, wide receiver very much included.
