Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
D
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesF
FutureB-
The Browns robbed the room for Rosengarten. Final grade: D. Somebody took the Browns to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. On value alone, Rosengarten makes the weekend a net positive. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In slot 8 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43
Rnd2
Troy Fautanu
The board had Troy Fautanu higher than the Round 2 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick55
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
A straight-up fair deal on T'Vondre Sweat at the 55th pick, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick74
Rnd3
Edgerrin Cooper
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Edgerrin Cooper in the 74th overall pick, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick79
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at No. 79 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick86
Rnd3
Gabriel Murphy
Gabriel Murphy in Round 3, Pick 23 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick96
Rnd3
Audric Estime
Audric Estime at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick110
Rnd4
Max Melton
No drama and no debate, Max Melton went about where he belonged in the 110th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick119
Rnd4
Jamari Thrash
Jamari Thrash at pick No. 119 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick135
Rnd4
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis in slot 135 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick136
Rnd4
James Williams
No edge and no loss on James Williams in the 136th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick205
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
The board fumbled Jaylan Ford all the way to Round 6, Pick 30, and they scooped it up. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick228
Rnd7
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at No. 228 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
