Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D-
ValueA- NeedB TradesF FutureC
Quarterback settled, Sanders in the fold, and a D- for the Cowboys.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Cowboys did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.

The whole projection now runs through Shedeur Sanders; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Gray.

Harmon has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In slot 16 they get a workhorse for the backfield, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick17 Rnd1 Shedeur Sanders
In the Round 1 slot they get their guy under center for the next decade at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick47 Rnd2 Mykel Williams
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Mykel Williams at Round 2, Pick 15 is the proof. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick78 Rnd3 Deontae Lawson
Steal is underselling it; Deontae Lawson at No. 78 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick80 Rnd3 Kenneth Grant
No edge and no loss on Kenneth Grant in pick No. 80; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick117 Rnd4 Derrick Harmon
A conviction pick on Derrick Harmon at the 117th overall pick that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick153 Rnd5 Jaeden Roberts
Taking Jaeden Roberts in the 153rd pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick169 Rnd5 Joshua Gray
You do not let an offensive lineman like Joshua Gray reach pick 169 and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick170 Rnd5 Kobe Hudson
Kobe Hudson at the 170th overall pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick171 Rnd5 Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway at No. 171 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick189 Rnd6 Cashius Howell
The board had Cashius Howell higher than the 189th pick, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick208 Rnd6 Jaydn Ott
Somehow Jaydn Ott was still sitting there in pick 208, and they pounced on premier running back value. A need, and now a little less of one.
