Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Browns won the night they stopped Kilgore from sliding. Grade: D.

The phones were a trap the Browns kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A D that will need time and luck to look better.

Reaching for Traore left real value on the table behind him. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Kilgore.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In pick 8 they get a rangy last line of defense at fair value.
Pick23 Rnd1 Makai Lemon
Makai Lemon in pick No. 23 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick36 Rnd2 Isaiah World
No edge and no loss on Isaiah World in the 36th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick39 Rnd2 Caleb Lomu
They paid sticker price for Caleb Lomu in the 39th pick, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick53 Rnd2 Nyck Harbor
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nyck Harbor in No. 53. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick74 Rnd3 Drew Shelton
Drew Shelton at Round 3, Pick 10 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick84 Rnd3 Keith Abney II
They took Keith Abney II at par in the 84th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick119 Rnd4 Boubacar Traore
They reached into another round for Boubacar Traore, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick147 Rnd5 Eric Rivers
A quiet steal in the 147th overall pick: Eric Rivers for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jalon Kilgore
You do not let a safety like Jalon Kilgore reach No. 149 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick186 Rnd6 Monroe Mills
They will replay Monroe Mills at pick No. 186 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick210 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster in Round 6, Pick 27 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick242 Rnd7 Alex Birchmeier
A reach for Alex Birchmeier in the Round 7 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
