The Broncos drew a line under the quarterback search with McCarthy: D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Broncos shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

Whatever J.J. McCarthy becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Spending an early pick on cornerback with wide receiver open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They are betting McCarthy proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

They banked enough surplus on Jacobs to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
