Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall
B+
ValueB+
NeedB
TradesA+
FutureB-
The Broncos won the night they stopped Judkins from sliding. Grade: B+. You could see the war room lean forward. Quinshon Judkins at pick 193 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
Every board in the league had Ritzie lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick51
Rnd2
Kaleb Johnson
The board had Kaleb Johnson higher than slot 51, and the running back fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick88
Rnd3
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Demetrius Knight Jr. at No. 88 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick89
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
Nothing to complain about; Donovan Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick121
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson at pick No. 121 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick125
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer at the 125th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jahvaree Ritzie
They reached into another round for Jahvaree Ritzie, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick193
Rnd6
Quinshon Judkins
Circle this one: Quinshon Judkins at Round 6, Pick 15 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick199
Rnd6
Jeffrey Bassa
Somehow Jeffrey Bassa was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick210
Rnd6
Ryan Fitzgerald
Ryan Fitzgerald at No. 210 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick243
Rnd7
Maxen Hook
Maxen Hook in the 243rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick255
Rnd7
Logan Parr
Logan Parr is a better player than the 255th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
