Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB+
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Broncos. The Broncos spent real capital to be 26 picks early on Isaac Guerendo, and the board is going to hold them to it.
The McMillan pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Spending an early pick on cornerback with interior defensive lineman open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
J.J. McCarthy
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 33 with a little surplus value in J.J. McCarthy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick73
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at slot 73 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick76
Rnd3
Cade Stover
Cade Stover at the 76th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick84
Rnd3
Devontez Walker
Value with a capital V on Devontez Walker in Round 3, Pick 20, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick87
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
They went early on Christian Mahogany in the Round 3 slot, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick93
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
No edge and no loss on Khyree Jackson in the 93rd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick101
Rnd4
Cam Hart
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 4, Pick 1 on Cam Hart with interior defensive lineman unsolved.
Pick102
Rnd4
Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at the 102nd overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick121
Rnd4
Jalen McMillan
Jalen McMillan at pick 121 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick136
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
A tidy little value on Mohamed Kamara in the Round 4 slot, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick145
Rnd5
Justin Eboigbe
No drama and no debate, Justin Eboigbe went about where he belonged in pick No. 145. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick147
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
Marist Liufau at the 147th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick203
Rnd6
Nathaniel Watson
The board had cheaper options than Nathaniel Watson at No. 203, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
