FutureA-
The Bears left with their quarterback, and a B+ to match. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Bears' quarterback, full stop. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
They will need Robinson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Joe Alt
In the 4th pick they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In No. 9 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick26
Rnd1
Keon Coleman
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A real need, handled.
Pick35
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
By-the-book stuff, Chop Robinson at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick43
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette in pick No. 43 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick51
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson in slot 51 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick69
Rnd3
Trey Benson
They went early on Trey Benson in the 69th overall pick, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick83
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley at pick 83 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick114
Rnd4
Brandon Coleman
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brandon Coleman well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick116
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
Value said wait; Darius Robinson in pick 116 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
