Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Chiefs and Miller: D-.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Chiefs did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. A D- that will need time and luck to look better.

Spending an early pick on cornerback with quarterback and linebacker open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Reaching for Jackson Jr. left real value on the table behind him. On value alone, Miller makes the weekend a net positive.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In the 11th pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick19 Rnd1 LT Overton
In pick No. 19 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Christen Miller
Christen Miller at the Round 2 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick43 Rnd2 Brandon Cisse
No edge and no loss on Brandon Cisse in No. 43; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick74 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
They did well to land Eli Stowers in Round 3, Pick 10, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick87 Rnd3 Emmett Johnson
Emmett Johnson in slot 87 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick91 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback and linebacker to take Keionte Scott, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick109 Rnd4 Kaytron Allen
Good price on Kaytron Allen in the 109th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick111 Rnd4 Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
A reach on Kenyatta Jackson Jr. in the 111th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick146 Rnd5 Bray Hubbard
Bray Hubbard in slot 146 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick176 Rnd5 Kevin Coleman Jr.
Kevin Coleman Jr. at Round 5, Pick 38 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick227 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
A conviction pick on Trey Zuhn III at pick 227 that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
