Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
A franchise passer in Ward headlines a D weekend for the Raiders.

The Raiders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Harold Perkins Jr., the No. 126 name on the board, in Round 6, Pick 37.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They have staked the next five years on Cam Ward, which is the only story that really matters here.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Roberts reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In the 6th overall pick they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Benjamin Morrison
A premium they did not need to pay, Benjamin Morrison a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick68 Rnd3 Xavier Watts
A safety of that caliber at the Round 3 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick73 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at pick No. 73 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick104 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. in Round 4, Pick 3 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick139 Rnd5 Jaeden Roberts
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaeden Roberts this early at No. 139. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick146 Rnd5 Deontae Lawson
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Deontae Lawson in pick 146, plain and simple. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick181 Rnd6 Ricky White III
They paid up for Ricky White III at slot 181 when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick212 Rnd6 Harold Perkins Jr.
They barely believed it either: Harold Perkins Jr. still on the board at the 212th pick. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick216 Rnd7 DJ Campbell
Quietly one of the better values of the day, DJ Campbell at the 216th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick221 Rnd7 Le'Veon Moss
Le'Veon Moss in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
