FutureA+
Mendoza is the plan now, and the Raiders grade out a D+. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Raiders shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
The whole projection now runs through Fernando Mendoza; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The cost of the McCullough reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
On value alone, Singleton makes the weekend a net positive.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
Fernando Mendoza in the 2nd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick12
Rnd1
Jermod McCoy
In the 12th pick they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
LT Overton
LT Overton in the Round 2 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick67
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Deontae Lawson at No. 67 is the proof. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick102
Rnd4
Nicholas Singleton
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nicholas Singleton in Round 4, Pick 2. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick117
Rnd4
Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch slid further than he should have, and pick No. 117 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick134
Rnd4
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams at pick 134 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick174
Rnd5
Earnest Greene III
Good price on Earnest Greene III in slot 174, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick180
Rnd6
Eric McAlister
Eric McAlister at the 180th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick183
Rnd6
Bud Clark
Bud Clark at Round 6, Pick 4 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick219
Rnd7
Dasan McCullough
A real head-scratcher, Dasan McCullough in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
