After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Raiders committed. Fernando Mendoza is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They are betting Coogan proves the room right and everyone else wrong. On value alone, Smith makes the weekend a net positive.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
