Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Raiders answered their biggest question with Sanders. Grade: D-.

The Raiders clearly saw something nobody else did in Shilo Sanders, taking him 30 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The whole projection now runs through Shedeur Sanders; hit there and everything else looks smarter.

With edge rusher, tight end and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

On value alone, Hampton makes the weekend a net positive.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Shedeur Sanders
In the 1st pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Benjamin Morrison
Benjamin Morrison at slot 34 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick65 Rnd3 Omarion Hampton
Steal is underselling it; Omarion Hampton at Round 3, Pick 1 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick69 Rnd3 Xavier Watts
Somehow Xavier Watts was still sitting there in pick No. 69, and they pounced on premier safety value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick103 Rnd4 Deontae Lawson
Taking Deontae Lawson in No. 103 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick138 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Smael Mondon Jr. adds a linebacker and leaves edge rusher, tight end and other spots untouched.
Pick140 Rnd5 Tory Horton
Tory Horton in Round 5, Pick 2 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick178 Rnd6 Ricky White III
Ricky White III at pick 178 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick212 Rnd6 Miles Frazier
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Miles Frazier. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick216 Rnd7 Clay Webb
No edge and no loss on Clay Webb in the 216th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick217 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at No. 217 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
