Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesC FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Raiders.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Raiders never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

They will need Siereveld to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. However the rest shakes out, Reese at that price is a win they earned.

They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In pick No. 12 they get a downhill hitter at safety, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick32 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In No. 32 they get a three-down second-level presence at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick35 Rnd2 Kayden McDonald
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kayden McDonald in pick 35. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick73 Rnd3 Austin Siereveld
Austin Siereveld at the 73rd pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick104 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis at the Round 4 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick161 Rnd5 Drew Allar
Good price on Drew Allar in Round 5, Pick 21, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick173 Rnd5 Monroe Mills
A premium they did not need to pay, Monroe Mills a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick181 Rnd6 Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa at the 181st overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. in the 185th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick200 Rnd6 Isaiah Jatta
By-the-book stuff, Isaiah Jatta at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick219 Rnd7 Bryce Foster
They reached into another round for Bryce Foster, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
