Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA+
A franchise passer in Mendoza headlines a D+ weekend for the Raiders.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Raiders did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The math is unkind, and the D+ follows.

The whole projection now runs through Fernando Mendoza; hit there and everything else looks smarter. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. The cost of the Overton reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The Weigman pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In No. 1 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
Pick20 Rnd1 Makai Lemon
In the 20th pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 LT Overton
They left a pile of value on the table to take LT Overton this early at pick 36. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick44 Rnd2 Christen Miller
Value with a capital V on Christen Miller in the 44th overall pick, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick67 Rnd3 Deontae Lawson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Deontae Lawson at pick No. 67 is the proof. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick102 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds at slot 102 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick112 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
No drama and no debate, Keylan Rutledge went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 12. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
Domani Jackson in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick174 Rnd5 Pat Coogan
Fair-plus on Pat Coogan, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick177 Rnd5 Eric McAlister
Eric McAlister at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick180 Rnd6 Bud Clark
Bud Clark at the 180th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick183 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
A conviction pick on Trey Zuhn III at slot 183 that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick219 Rnd7 Conner Weigman
Conner Weigman at No. 219 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
