Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B
ValueB NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Panthers, and a B to prove it.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Panthers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to cornerback, which was the need that mattered most. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

Monheim falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at slot 33 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick65 Rnd3 Kris Jenkins
A tidy little value on Kris Jenkins in the 65th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick101 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Matt Goncalves. It fills a real need, too.
Pick138 Rnd5 Cade Stover
Cade Stover in the 138th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick164 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
They let Jonah Monheim come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick180 Rnd6 Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper at pick No. 180 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
