Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall
B
ValueB+
NeedB
TradesC+
FutureB+
The Raiders let Blue fall and pounced. Final grade: B. The rest of the league will want that one back. Jaydon Blue tumbling to the Raiders in pick 215 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. If Harris pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Ashton Jeanty
In pick No. 17 they get a lead back with juice, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick37
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant in No. 37 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
They read the board right and Jihaad Campbell was the payoff at pick 49. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick68
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
They paid sticker price for Tate Ratledge in Round 3, Pick 4, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick81
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
A premium they did not need to pay, Jalen Milroe a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Pick108
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at the 108th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick143
Rnd5
Hollin Pierce
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Hollin Pierce. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick180
Rnd6
Ajani Cornelius
Good price on Ajani Cornelius in slot 180, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick213
Rnd6
Jermari Harris
A wild overpay on Jermari Harris in slot 213, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick215
Rnd6
Jaydon Blue
Jaydon Blue at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick222
Rnd7
Ricky White III
Ricky White III at No. 222 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
