Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall C
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesD- FutureC+
The Dolphins bled value on every deal, hence the C.

There is reaching, and then there is Mason Reiger at the 126th overall pick. The Dolphins jumped the board by 72 and dared it to prove them wrong.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McNeil-Warren. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The Ponds pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots still on the board.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In the 11th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick43 Rnd2 D'Angelo Ponds
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with D'Angelo Ponds while clear needs at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots sat open.
Pick75 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers in pick No. 75 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick90 Rnd3 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in No. 90 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick91 Rnd3 Jaishawn Barham
They reached a country mile for Jaishawn Barham at the Round 3 slot, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick111 Rnd4 Nadame Tucker
They talked themselves into Nadame Tucker at pick 111, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick126 Rnd4 Mason Reiger
They reached into another round for Mason Reiger, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick127 Rnd4 Beau Stephens
This one needs a full-page explanation: Beau Stephens in the 127th pick, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick151 Rnd5 Kaleb Elarms-Orr
Kaleb Elarms-Orr at No. 151 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick178 Rnd5 Red Murdock
Red Murdock in pick 178 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick215 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Trey Zuhn III. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick227 Rnd7 De'Zhaun Stribling
De'Zhaun Stribling at slot 227 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
