Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Sanders is the Raiders' new face under center. Grade: D-.

The DJ Campbell pick is the one that will follow the Raiders into the fall. They took him 68 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

Landing Singleton that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.

They have staked the next five years on Shedeur Sanders, which is the only story that really matters here. They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher, tight end and other spots went begging.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Shedeur Sanders
In No. 1 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick34 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jalon Walker at the 34th pick is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick65 Rnd3 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts slipping to the Round 3 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick72 Rnd3 Dylan Fairchild
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dylan Fairchild at Round 3, Pick 8. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick103 Rnd4 Dylan Sampson
They will replay Dylan Sampson at pick No. 103 for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Pick138 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, tight end and other spots to take Smael Mondon Jr., a linebacker that was not the priority.
Pick145 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
They reached a country mile for DJ Campbell at slot 145, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick177 Rnd6 Nicholas Singleton
You do not let a running back like Nicholas Singleton reach pick 177 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick212 Rnd6 Davison Igbinosun
A reach on Davison Igbinosun in Round 6, Pick 37; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick216 Rnd7 Elijhah Badger
A big swing on Elijhah Badger at the 216th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick217 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at the 217th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
