FutureA+
Scott should have been long gone. The Titans pounced, and earned a A. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Titans were there to profit. Justin Scott, the No. 21 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 68th pick. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A to cap it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The McClain pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots still on the board.
Reaching for Hardy left real value on the table behind him. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In the end it comes back to Ahmad Hardy, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Ahmad Hardy
In the 12th pick they get a bell-cow for the offense, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Trey'Dez Green
The board had Trey'Dez Green higher than pick 33, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick53
Rnd2
David Stone
Somehow David Stone was still sitting there in No. 53, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick68
Rnd3
Justin Scott
Justin Scott at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick69
Rnd3
A'Mauri Washington
Circle this one: A'Mauri Washington at Round 3, Pick 5 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick104
Rnd4
Keon Sabb
The board fumbled Keon Sabb all the way to pick No. 104, and they scooped it up. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick120
Rnd4
Jaylen McClain
A curious use of slot 120. Edge rusher, quarterback and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Jaylen McClain did not.
Pick143
Rnd5
Amare Ferrell
Amare Ferrell in the 143rd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick180
Rnd6
John Curry
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing John Curry in Round 6, Pick 1. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick199
Rnd6
Braelin Moore
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Braelin Moore at the 199th overall pick is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick225
Rnd7
Zavier Mincey
They will replay Zavier Mincey at pick No. 225 for years; that is how good the value is. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
