Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA FutureC+
The Ravens checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Ravens did exactly that with Khalid Duke in the Round 7 slot.

However the rest shakes out, Rosemy-Jacksaint at that price is a win they earned. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The trade work was a quiet net positive. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick36 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
Nice patience on Troy Fautanu, who had no business lasting to the 36th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick62 Rnd2 Ja'Lynn Polk
Ja'Lynn Polk at slot 62 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick67 Rnd3 Marshawn Kneeland
The board had cheaper options than Marshawn Kneeland at the 67th pick, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick93 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
No drama and no debate, Christian Mahogany went about where he belonged in No. 93. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick101 Rnd4 Cam Hart
They took Cam Hart at par in pick 101, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick113 Rnd4 James Williams
They liked James Williams enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 4, Pick 13. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick130 Rnd4 Roger Rosengarten
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Roger Rosengarten. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick142 Rnd5 Jordan Travis
They reached into another round for Jordan Travis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick165 Rnd5 Tykee Smith
Fair-plus on Tykee Smith, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick218 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
JD Bertrand at the Round 6 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick228 Rnd7 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
They will replay Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at slot 228 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Pick229 Rnd7 Khalid Duke
Khalid Duke at the 229th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick234 Rnd7 Emani Bailey
They reached a country mile for Emani Bailey at No. 234, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick250 Rnd7 Trey Taylor
They paid up for Trey Taylor at Round 7, Pick 30 when waiting would have done the job. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
