FOXY KNOXY DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks

Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall

ValueB

FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Seahawks a B-. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jaleel Johnson in the Round 7 slot, a good 47 spots before the room expected him. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Viliamu-Asa falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Will Echoles
In pick No. 28 they get a load in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick49
Rnd2
Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa
Somehow Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 17, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
Pick59
Rnd2
Kade Pieper
Kade Pieper is a better player than pick 59 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick80
Rnd3
Greg Johnson
Nice patience on Greg Johnson, who had no business lasting to the 80th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick100
Rnd3
Jyaire Hill
Jyaire Hill at slot 100 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
Pick101
Rnd3
Iapani Laloulu
No drama and no debate, Iapani Laloulu went about where he belonged in No. 101. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick128
Rnd4
Marcus Neal Jr.
A slide stopped in the 128th overall pick, with Marcus Neal Jr. worth more than the price. This was not a hole anyone had circled.
Pick135
Rnd4
Isaac Brown
Isaac Brown in slot 135 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick137
Rnd4
Shadre Hurst
You do not let an offensive lineman like Shadre Hurst reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick156
Rnd5
Whit Weeks
They took Whit Weeks at par in the 156th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
Pick166
Rnd5
Eli Bowen
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 166 with a little surplus value in Eli Bowen. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Pick175
Rnd5
Elijah Paige
A straight-up fair deal on Elijah Paige at No. 175, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick177
Rnd5
Isaiah Sategna III
They jumped the gun on Isaiah Sategna III, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The roster fit checks out.
Pick196
Rnd6
Eli Finley
Eli Finley at Round 6, Pick 17 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick213
Rnd6
Gunner Stockton
They talked themselves into Gunner Stockton at Round 6, Pick 34, and the board did not agree. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick237
Rnd7
Jaleel Johnson
Value said wait; Jaleel Johnson in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
