Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesF FutureD
The Raiders got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

The tape said wait; the Raiders did not. Malik Verdon went at pick 215, a good 104 picks before the board was ready. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher, cornerback and other spots went begging.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In pick No. 6 they get a bell-cow for the offense. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick17 Rnd1 Jihaad Campbell
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get a green-dot type in the middle, though the board says they badly overpaid. Need was not the driver here.
Pick37 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
They took Xavier Watts at par in the 37th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick68 Rnd3 Jaylin Noel
Jaylin Noel at pick 68 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick70 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaiah Bond. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick88 Rnd3 Anthony Belton
A real head-scratcher, Anthony Belton in the 88th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick108 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Smael Mondon Jr. while clear needs at edge rusher, cornerback and other spots sat open.
Pick143 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten at pick No. 143 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick180 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They paid sticker price for Dont'e Thornton Jr. in slot 180, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick213 Rnd6 John Williams
Value said wait; John Williams in pick 213 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick215 Rnd6 Malik Verdon
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Malik Verdon. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick222 Rnd7 Garrett Dellinger
Garrett Dellinger at the 222nd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
