Draft Grade — Dolphins

Good, not great, for the Dolphins: B-. Nobody had Drew Allar this high, and it is not close. The Dolphins reached 62 spots to get him at pick No. 94.
Getting Davis where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Spending an early pick on cornerback with tight end and linebacker open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In pick No. 11 they get an every-down engine for the run game at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick30
Rnd1
Emmanuel Pregnon
In the 30th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front, though they paid up to get him.
Pick43
Rnd2
Gabe Jacas
They paid up for Gabe Jacas at Round 2, Pick 11 when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in No. 75 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick87
Rnd3
Mike Washington Jr.
The board had Mike Washington Jr. higher than the Round 3 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick93
Rnd3
Devin Moore
They did well to land Devin Moore in the 93rd pick, just ahead of his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick94
Rnd3
Drew Allar
Drew Allar at the 94th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick130
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Tacario Davis at cornerback with tight end and linebacker open.
Pick151
Rnd5
Zxavian Harris
No edge and no loss on Zxavian Harris in Round 5, Pick 11; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick165
Rnd5
Jeff Caldwell
Jeff Caldwell at pick No. 165 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick227
Rnd7
Hykeem Williams
A big swing on Hykeem Williams at the 227th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick232
Rnd7
Nolan Rucci
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nolan Rucci this early at the Round 7 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Pick238
Rnd7
Logan Taylor
A real head-scratcher, Logan Taylor in pick 238 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
