Draft Grade — Eagles

FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Eagles: B-. The Eagles clearly saw something nobody else did in Joshua Gray, taking him 45 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
The Sanker pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The Mondon Jr. pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with cornerback, wide receiver and other spots still on the board.
The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In pick No. 32 they get a green-dot type in the middle, and a steal at that.
Pick64
Rnd2
Josaiah Stewart
Josaiah Stewart is a better player than the Round 2 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick96
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
A reasonable price with a little left over, Darius Alexander in Round 3, Pick 32. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Smael Mondon Jr. while clear needs at cornerback, wide receiver and other spots sat open.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jonas Sanker
They barely believed it either: Jonas Sanker still on the board at the 161st pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick164
Rnd5
Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins
Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins at slot 164 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick165
Rnd5
Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray at the 165th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick168
Rnd5
Maxen Hook
Maxen Hook in the 168th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
