mp3 DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Williams in the fold, and a B- for the Bears. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In No. 1 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In pick No. 9 they get a No. 1 receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick75
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
No edge and no loss on Marshawn Kneeland in slot 75; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick122
Rnd4
Cam Hart
Fair-plus on Cam Hart, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
