Draft Grade — Cardinals

Grand theft in the Round 7 slot: the Cardinals steal Coleman Jr. and grade out a B. Somebody in No. 224 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cardinals sat still while Kevin Coleman Jr., the No. 162 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Francis Mauigoa
In the 9th overall pick they get a building block for the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
They let Caleb Banks come to them and pounced at slot 40. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick71
Rnd3
Colton Hood
Colton Hood in pick No. 71 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick109
Rnd4
Cade Klubnik
Steal is underselling it; Cade Klubnik at No. 109 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick148
Rnd5
Tim Keenan III
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tim Keenan III. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick188
Rnd6
Sammy Omosigho
A linebacker of that caliber at the 188th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick224
Rnd7
Kevin Coleman Jr.
Kevin Coleman Jr. in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
