Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Patriots this weekend: B+.

The Ty Robinson pick is the one that will follow the Patriots into the fall. They took him 35 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Jackson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The DK Metcalf deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In the 4th pick they get a featured back at fair value.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jack Bech
Jack Bech in pick No. 69 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick77 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
A straight-up fair deal on Elijah Arroyo at pick 77, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick94 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Pick105 Rnd4 Donovan Jackson
Taking Donovan Jackson in No. 105 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick130 Rnd4 Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson at the 130th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick222 Rnd7 Cam Horsley
Cam Horsley at the Round 7 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
