The Saints put a flag in the ground for J.J. Weaver, 157 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. The math is unkind, and the D- follows.

They have staked the next five years on Shedeur Sanders, which is the only story that really matters here. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Getting Taylor where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
