Jareo DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Steelers: B-. The needs board said one thing and the Steelers did another, using pick No. 51 on Zach Frazier while safety, edge rusher and other spots waited.
For all the activity, safety went untouched, which is hard to explain. Frazier has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a building block for the line. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Zach Frazier at offensive lineman with safety, edge rusher and other spots open.
Pick84
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
Michael Hall Jr. at the 84th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick98
Rnd3
Malik Washington
Malik Washington in No. 98 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Pick119
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cedric Gray in the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick178
Rnd6
Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis in the 178th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick195
Rnd6
M.J. Devonshire
Good price on M.J. Devonshire in slot 195, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
