Draft Grade — Saints

FutureB
The Saints fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+. The Saints went off the board in a big way for J.J. Weaver, 140 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
Landing Judkins that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup weapon at tight end. A real need, handled.
Pick40
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
A conviction pick on JT Tuimoloau at slot 40 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick71
Rnd3
Deone Walker
They did well to land Deone Walker in pick 71, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick76
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in No. 76 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick93
Rnd3
Savion Williams
By-the-book stuff, Savion Williams at pick No. 93 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick111
Rnd4
Demetrius Knight Jr.
They robbed the room for Demetrius Knight Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick130
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
Circle this one: Andrew Mukuba at the 130th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick150
Rnd5
Quinshon Judkins
You do not let a running back like Quinshon Judkins reach the Round 5 slot and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick186
Rnd6
Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at pick 186 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick254
Rnd7
J.J. Weaver
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for J.J. Weaver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
