Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall D
ValueF NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Cardinals fought the board and lost. D.

Nobody had Michael Wiley this high, and it is not close. The Cardinals reached 275 spots to get him at the 27th overall pick. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

Landing Fuaga that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Jacob Cowing
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27 Rnd1 Michael Wiley
In No. 27 they get a workhorse for the backfield, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Pick35 Rnd2 Jawhar Jordan
They reached a country mile for Jawhar Jordan at the 35th pick, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
Pick66 Rnd3 Jordan Whittington
Jordan Whittington at slot 66 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick71 Rnd3 Ryan Flournoy
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ryan Flournoy this early at the 71st overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick90 Rnd3 Jamari Thrash
Jamari Thrash at pick 90 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick105 Rnd4 Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell at the 105th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick137 Rnd5 Javontae Jean-Baptiste
Javontae Jean-Baptiste at slot 137 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick161 Rnd5 Khristian Boyd
A wild overpay on Khristian Boyd in pick 161, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick188 Rnd6 Javion Cohen
They robbed the room for Javion Cohen here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick222 Rnd7 X'Zauvea Gadlin
A swing that ignored the value entirely, X'Zauvea Gadlin well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick224 Rnd7 Karsen Barnhart
A big swing on Karsen Barnhart at the 224th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick241 Rnd7 Taliese Fuaga
Taking Taliese Fuaga in pick No. 241 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
