FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Chiefs a B. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chiefs reached some 37 spots for Sai'vion Jones, and value like that does not grow back. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. However the rest shakes out, Royals at that price is a win they earned.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick38
Rnd2
Josh Conerly Jr.
No drama and no debate, Josh Conerly Jr. went about where he belonged in the 38th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick63
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson is a better player than slot 63 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick78
Rnd3
Jalen Royals
They read the board right and Jalen Royals was the payoff at No. 78. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick95
Rnd3
Joshua Farmer
They talked themselves into Joshua Farmer at pick 95, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick106
Rnd4
Sai'vion Jones
This one needs a full-page explanation: Sai'vion Jones in the 106th overall pick, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick111
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
No edge and no loss on Anthony Belton in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick115
Rnd4
Lathan Ransom
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Lathan Ransom at pick 115 is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick123
Rnd4
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at the 123rd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick185
Rnd6
DJ Giddens
Value with a capital V on DJ Giddens in pick No. 185, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
