The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Patriots reached some 40 spots for Kamran James, and value like that does not grow back.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. However the rest shakes out, Branch at that price is a win they earned.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
