The Raiders found their guy under center in Ward: B-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Cam Ward, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

That Ewers pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They will need Cross III to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In No. 6 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
They paid sticker price for Tyler Booker in pick 37, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick68 Rnd3 Demetrius Knight Jr.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Demetrius Knight Jr. at Round 3, Pick 4 is the proof. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick108 Rnd4 Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in the 108th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick143 Rnd5 Quinn Ewers
You do not let a quarterback like Quinn Ewers reach slot 143 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick180 Rnd6 DJ Giddens
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing DJ Giddens in the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick213 Rnd6 Howard Cross III
A reach for Howard Cross III in the 213th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick215 Rnd6 Caleb Rogers
A quiet steal in pick No. 215: Caleb Rogers for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick222 Rnd7 Karene Reid
Karene Reid in No. 222 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
