Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Ravens robbed the room for Lew. Final grade: B-. Call it larceny. Connor Lew sat on the board until pick 80, and the Ravens did not need to be asked twice.
They are betting Leigh proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick45
Rnd2
Eli Stowers
They paid sticker price for Eli Stowers in the 45th pick, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick80
Rnd3
Connor Lew
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 80 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick115
Rnd4
Bud Clark
A reach on Bud Clark in Round 4, Pick 15; the board had better options right there. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick154
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
By-the-book stuff, Domani Jackson at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick162
Rnd5
Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst in slot 162 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick173
Rnd5
Zane Durant
Zane Durant at pick No. 173 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick174
Rnd5
Eric Rivers
Value with a capital V on Eric Rivers in pick 174, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick211
Rnd6
Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon in the 211th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick250
Rnd7
Tristan Leigh
A big swing on Tristan Leigh at the 250th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick253
Rnd7
Josh Cuevas
Josh Cuevas slid further than he should have, and pick 253 is lovely value for the tight end. The roster fit checks out.
