RF4916 DRAFTING FOR THERavens
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Ravens: B-. The Ravens did not so much draft Oluwafemi Oladejo as overpay for him, 147 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
The Gabriel pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Malaki Starks
No edge and no loss on Malaki Starks in Round 1, Pick 27; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick59
Rnd2
Trey Amos
A slide stopped in the Round 2 slot, with Trey Amos worth more than the price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick91
Rnd3
Oluwafemi Oladejo
They talked themselves into Oluwafemi Oladejo at pick 91, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick129
Rnd4
Shemar Turner
Shemar Turner in the 129th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick136
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
They barely believed it either: Hollin Pierce still on the board at pick No. 136. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick176
Rnd5
Pat Bryant
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Pat Bryant in slot 176, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick183
Rnd6
Jack Kiser
The board had cheaper options than Jack Kiser at pick 183, and it noticed. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick203
Rnd6
DJ Giddens
They will replay DJ Giddens at the 203rd pick for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick210
Rnd6
Cobee Bryant
Steal is underselling it; Cobee Bryant at No. 210 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick212
Rnd6
Dillon Gabriel
They robbed the room for Dillon Gabriel here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick243
Rnd7
Jalen Travis
A real head-scratcher, Jalen Travis in slot 243 is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
